Attention: Internets

You do not need to designate something as "Not Work Safe" IF IT IS JUST FUCKING TEXT!!

"Say, Verbena, was that text I saw on your screen there as I wandered by? I'm so reporting you."

Ah, but the eyes pick up illicit words more easily than other words.

Ahh, an elegant argument for the power of subliminal typography.

Also, some of us have employers that log more or less everything.

Ignorant and free here. "Log" how? They check histories? Keystrokes?

The server keeps track of every page that you visit and quite possibly has logs of anything that gets transmitted over MSN or the like as well.

This is true of any internet surfing by the bye, it's just that your ISP doesn't have a policy of acceptable use that's quite as narrow as your work's might be.

I think it depends on the nature of the workplace or the nosiness of nearby colleagues. I'm very lucky that I can surf porn at work because no one can see my desktop.

What I find funny is how people make their LJ-cut tags say "Not safe for work" in communities like [livejournal.com profile] show_your_cock! It's a given that anything in such a community is not work safe...

Your icon is not work safe and yet leaves me feeling all warm and fuzzy.

I, for one, have had many replies to various all-text entries of mine saying things to the effect of "omg, I'm reading LJ at work!!1!!! could you pls put that behind a cut, thx!!!?!" and I'm like, yanno what? fuck you. hello, you're at work, so the subject of whether or not you should even be reading LJ right now at all is sketchy at best. if your job is so fascist a company that they monitor keystroke or log entire webpages, and you're aware of it, you should be keeping your ass off of the internet anyway.

god. people piss me off here lately. I'm turning into a crotchety old man.

If I had LJ posts that contained "gaping anuses", those anuses would be behind an LJ-cut...but that's beside the point. Since the subject of this post is regarding text-only posts and the belief that they don't need to be prefaced with "NSFW" or the like, I am referring to posts of the same kind in my LJ.

Ok yeah, I agree that text-only stuff shouldn never be worried about :)

(also, for people wondering, the deleted post is the one below, but I fixed a mistake right while he replied)

The mistake was kind of cool: "Some of us work (or go to school) at places where we can keep our own
ours"
, later corrected to "hours".

We will keep our own ours if you keep yours yours, I say.

Some of us work (or go to school) at places where we can keep our own hours, and can feel free to surf the internet if we feel like that. That doesn't mean we want gaping anuses to show up on our screen without warning. It's just a courtesy thing. You don't have to do it, but don't get mad when people complain.
