I think there can be a lot of good in many interactions with the animal kingdom. Hunting is one of the oldest of these interactions, so I believe that a love of nature can actually be enhanced through it.
If...
If hunting is done with a love and respect for the creatures. If hunting is done with appreciation of the woods around you and a commitment to preservation of the eco-system. If you hunt only what you wish to eat. If you do not use hunting as a symbol of your domination of nature, but of your place in it.
I think that if we actually killed and processed more of the food we ate (or grew it in the case of vegetables and fruit), we would be less likely to take the natural world for granted, to waste food, or to poison our bodies with crap.
