Pleasant Surprise in Space
Aug. 4th, 2009 11:38 amOkay, I'm happy.
I loved Battlestar Galactica when it started, but by Season 4.0 it had descended well into the dreadful zone. I mean, it was flat out stupid, histrionic and pointless. But, like the Sopranos which also featured a split final season (with a poor first half), the creators really rose to the occasion. We're watching Season 4.5 now and it has yet to be anything but stunning.
Now, I've heard rumours that they fuck up the last episode, which would be disappointing; but so far, seven episodes in, I'm very impressed. Writing, acting, pace, atmosphere, revelation of secrets, mythological elements pulling together. All beautiful. The show is appealing to all the senses and is fearless.
NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

Date: 2009-08-04 07:49 pm (UTC)But my interest began to fade rapidly in season 3, although the Tigh/Ellen story-arc was painfully beautiful. I haven't seen any of season 4 except for a few snippets here and there. I've heard bits and pieces but really... it lost something for me and my interest waned rapidly. Hopefully, like the Sopranos, the show redeems itself in the end.
