The Heintzman Piano in our living room was built in Toronto in 1924. It was shipped to a dealership in Montreal and bought by my great-aunt Jenny. Around 1934, my grandparents bought it from Jenny and my mom learned to play piano on it. It followed her to Toronto a few years after she married my dad and my siblings and I learned to play on it in its corner of the basement.

It went into storage when my parents moved in 1988 and then we took possession of it when we moved into our in 1995.

Now we want to get rid of it. Seriously, I never play it and my siblings and my parents have their own pianos. True, Snake is learning to play piano slowly and is at the twinkle-twinkle stage, but he's not married to the process. To keep the piano through the reno, we would have to move it in and out and then it's still in need of tuning and more extensive work. And we don't play it. So, I was finally convinced this weekend to let it go. All fixed up and nice, it would sell for $4000, but in its present condition, I'll be lucky to get $500. One dealer is coming on Thursday to check it out and my Craigslist ad also got an interested response.

Bye, piano. You should be with someone who will love you. You're a grand machine.

Don't worry. When you're actually ready for a piano, there are lots of them around.

I will now make you completely angry by saying that I may even sell ours and buy one of these (http://www.casio.com/products/Musical_Instruments/Privia_Digital_Pianos/PX-800/).

*shudders*

...That being said, I've been considering buying a keyboard. Except that they cost ridiculous amounts for ones that I would even deign to touch, let alone enjoy practicing on. Lol, I'm such a snob.
