Mac Tech Question

I use a nice program called "Transmission" for my torrent downloads. It's great, but I have one problem; half the time when I quit the app, it will hang on quit. The window will disappear and icon in the doc will have the word "quitting" over it.

Then nothing happens. You can't force quit it either. If it's stuck in this state, the computer will hang on shut down. The only way out is to hold the power button and do an emergency shut down.

I'm on Tiger.

Any ideas?

The website says it supports Tiger and Leopard, but Leopard is "strongly recommended". Of course, always make sure you have the latest version, and failing THAT, you could actually try an older version:

It's possible that an older version won't have the problem that plagues you. I use transmission in 10.5/Leopard on an intel mac, and I don't seem to have the same problem.

If you have any interest in installing 10.5, I can hook you up.

I love Transmission. I use it for my larger downloads of TV shows and movies. I use Aureus to download porn. I am on Tiger as Leopard didn't install properly on my G4 Mac Mini. I used to have this problem with Trans but with the latest downloads (and there is a new download monthly) it has been eliminated.

If Log out and Force quit don't override this program quit then you need to use your OS disk Maintenance program to reset your permissions files and optimize your system.
