My body is working really well these days and it's a surprise and a joy.

In August of 2005 I tore the miniscus in my right knee and it was operated on last February. This acute development was just part of a general deterioration of my knees.

But the operation was a success and lately I've found better ways of biking so that it didn't hurt. This mostly involves actually using my gears instead of forcing my way through with muscle. I gear down before I stop and keep my gear ratio regulated so I'm turning my legs faster and forcing less. Preliminary results show that even after a couple of days in a row of biking to work, I'm not noticibly sore in the way I was before the changes. So, yay.

Shortly after my knee operation, I began developing tennis elbow and, worse, a terrible nerve pinch near my C5 vertebra that caused acute pain in my right arm and numbness in my right thumb and index finger.

This is now largely gone and only reasserts itself (at a more moderate level) after a few days at the office. The main cures here have been daily yoga, converting my home computer station to a setup for standing instead of sitting and walking more.

During days of hard labour on the roof last week, I did no damage to myself except a few splinters and some tightness in my right hamstring.

Go body!
