Materialist. You know, all Jews walk around in gaudy, dripping jewels and stuff and get Mercedes to drive. They talk about money, money, money all the time.
What's interesting is the sociological truth behind this distorted perspective. For a lot of people who've climbed out of poverty, like the Jews of my father's generation whose parents were dirt-poor immigrants, there is satisfaction in saying, "Look! I'm not down in the dirt any more." Furthermore, nothing is more pleasing to someone of Eastern European Jewish descent than finding a bargain. "Look at this beautiful watch! You like? Of course you do. But listen! I got it for $20 only! What a bargain."
The sociological fallacy is mistaking this behaviour for core behaviour. Want core behaviour? Love and acceptance is more important in my family than discomfort over my being gay. So Snake is now a beloved son in my family, and a publically-acknowledged one. And that was fucking hard for my parents to do but they were damned if strangers were going to be more important to them than me.
