I Found Him

Tomorrow in Budapest, Snake is meeting his girlfriend from high school. They were both top Russian language students at their respective schools in Hungary and met on a study trip to Leningrad. He found her by doing a google search on her name and came up with an article about her swimming across Lake Balaton last year. He found her phone number online in the Budapest phone book. After a short phone call and a couple of e-mail exchanges, it was obvious the divorced physician mother of two was wondering if it was time to rekindle their relationship, so he quickly came out to her. Anyway, tomorrow they'll meet for the first time in 20 years.

So, for the hell of it, I looked him, finding just the right keywords. Many articles on him in Canadian avaiation newsletters. One has a sweet little photo in a helmet in the cockpit of an aeroplane with a cute little moustache on his manly, cherubic face. One has an e-mail address.

My first love.

Uh-oh! this is a good lesson on how small the world is. In order to preserve everyone's anonymity, I will be careful about revealing details that get all too specific.

But still, it's fun to find unusual connections between folks, ain't it?
