I'm painfully tired. I HATE working five days a week at my day job but the last few weeks before Christmas are always nuts for us, especially since we close shop completely between Christmas and New Years.

In fact, I'm tacking on a few days of break before and after which will give me a 13 day holiday, most of it with Snake out of town. I find myself quite annoyed that I will not be alone in the house. Snake only takes off on his own every couple of years and I usually luxuriate in the rather juvenile thrills of playing any loud music I want, lounging around in my bathroom, making meals or not and shopping or not as I see fit and doing only one grand cleaning before he gets home. With Tutu around, I will not be able to enjoy this much freedom. However, I seem to recall that the thrills of being juvenile wore off some time ago and that this putative freedom is not all it's cracked up to be.

Some things that are going to happen while I'm away from work:
• watch lots of DVDs
• sleep until ungodly hours like 8:30 a.m.
• hang out with friends
• have sex with other friends and acquaintances
• draw at least something everyday, hopefully finish the four page comic I want to put up on line (actually 12 web pages).
• finish the first draft of the script for my BIG comic.
• re-install my music system, possibly with the help of a consultant, and learn better ways of using it instead of the workarounds I've been employing.
• record my translation of J'Arrive, maybe with special guest musicians.
• finish my mp3 cataloguing project
• read "Fall on Your Knees" by Anne-Marie MacDonald. She lives in my neighbourhood and Snake and I figured out which house is her's the other night.
• read Guns, Germs and Steel.
• eat drink and be, Mary!

BUT FIRST! While I have always avoided rock shows in big venues (a lot of money and you end up a mile back seeing and hearing nothing), I have learned a new trick -- check for single tickets a couple of days before the show. This trick got me front row Elvis Costello tickets in 2002 and now it's worked again: BOWIE! FRIDAY NIGHT! Eighth row of the floors, dead centre.

Okay, okay, back to work. Four major reports to get out before I'm paroled.

Sounds like fun all around.

You can always come over here if you want to be juvenile. We listen to loud music all we want, and aside from working hard at our jobs we often let all of the adult things go slip slidin' away. Hooray for game consoles and soup in a can!

If you don't have a copy of GG&S, I've got one. I have a feeling you do, though.
