Someone was asking on a YouTube video about first celebrity crushes. I had to think about this a bit and then actually research it because I had no idea the actor's name. But when I was around puberty, I was into this TV drama called "Family." Unusual taste for a 13 year old boy, but then it was me. It was a great show with terrific actors. I was totally into the teenage son, Willy, played by Gary Frank. I managed to find only one clip on YouTube, and it happens to be about Willy coming to terms with his best friend's coming out! I have no memory of this episode, but it's pretty far ahead of its time for network TV in the 70s.

Here is Willy in his (to my young eyes) cuteness, hashing it out with his dad (who, btw, is Matthew Broderick's father):

I loved that show too. This was actually the very first episode. I remember it well, and I remember being disappointed that Willy wasn't "that way."

Hi, I added you because you seem inspiring and I need more queer rolemodels.

Thanks, Wingles. I'm afraid I'm a pretty quiet blogger here these days (as I am on Google+), though I keep planning to blog more. My LJ life had become largely about fandom, and I'm spending less time in fandom these days, though I did get excited enough back in July to write an "X-Men: First Class" fic. If you like X-Men: Movieverse fic, you might check out my epic novel, Days of Becoming (http://toothdemon.net/ttl/fanfic/dob).

These days, my writing output is in my new novel, and I share that creative energy with my music which I'm also spending a lot of time on.

Good luck with your coming out journey. It's a very exciting time! Having poked a bit in your journal and also the link you had to a passionate essay about queer inclusion in media, you've gotten me curious about Holmes/Watson fic.

Thankyou for the warm welcome! I downloaded the pdf-files of your fic.

I can only recommend Holmes/Watson fic, especially now as the fandom is in a time of reneissance due to the many movies and tv-series based on the original stories. Or you could just go and read My Dearest Holmes by Rohace Piercy...

Good luck with the novel-writing.

For the time? Remarkable! No judgement on the dad's part. There is that strange, interesting exchange that seems to imply that all teen boys have crushes (sexual is implied) on a same-sex object at some point. Is this true? I kind of doubt it. Or are they confusing role modelling with horn-dogging?
