Series Summary: This novel focuses mainly on the paths Iceman and Pyro take on their way to adulthood and how they discover and deal with their love for each other. It is a novel about what Joni Mitchell calls ”the dream's malfunction” and how we can learn to make our own dreams when our heroes fail us. Other X characters (including ones from comicverse and elsewhere) and OC's play prominent roles and the action begins before X1, continues through the events of X2 and X3 and concludes in the aftermath of that movie. This novel does not take X-Men Origins: Wolverine as canon.

Previously in Days of Becoming: Bobby and John are holed up secretly in a San Francisco hotel while John recovers from his concussion (having been aided by an old healer named Caducea). John plans to leave as soon as he's well. Bobby hopes his money holds out that long and that he can somehow convince John to stay with him. Meanwhile back at the mansion, Kitty has developed an interesting nascent relationship with Warren Worthington III. Charles Xavier, in a new body has returned from Scotland. Will he be able to resume the life he had?

Man, you're really on the ball with the updates these days! No complaints at my end, although this cliffhanger is pretty tantalising.

I found this chapter intriguing. My first X-series experience was the cartoon when I was very young, and I always had really idealistic hopes for the characters (i.e. Jean Grey would come off her acid trip and live happily ever after with Scott, Rogue would gain control of her powers and marry Gambit etc). What I'm getting at is that I've read this novel over the course of a few years and I think it's a tribute to your writing that you've swayed me from my initial (and admittedly very contrived and boring) hopes that Bobby and John would go back to the mansion and live happily ever after (or as long as anyone does in the x-verse). When the characters are well-developed enough to convince you of what they're saying, you know it's good stuff you're reading. Keep up the good work.

(All that being said I won't think it's a bad novel if they do go back to the mansion and live happily ever after. I'm still 8 inside, after all.)

I love this comment. Yeah, for me working the in X-verse is both an exercise in warm-fuzzy nostalgia and a desire to break that and bring some kind of realism (at least realism on my terms) into it. I'm striving for that balance. I hope you're happy with where I take it.

Oooooh! Niftyness. I so don't trust Warren. And I think your take on the new and "improved" Xavier is very intriguing. Post Last Stand Xavier isn't something I've seen anyone deal with yet. I think it's one of those things I've wondered about while not really being able to wrap my mind around. I suppose my main issue is just not being able to imagine anyone except Patrick Stewart for that character.
Poor crazy old geezers. I'm looking forward to seeing Bobby becoming accustomed to the fabulous world that is fast food employment. *cackle*
I'm irritated with myself for missing this update, but then again... It's like finding a Christmas gift 'after' the holiday is over and you thought all the presents were opened. ^_^

I'm enjoying writing new!Charles. Where identity lives is an interesting topic for me. Obviously, Charles himself has a problem imagining himself in his new body (note the vision Bobby sees).

you are awesome and have inspired so much x-men ideas in myself though i might not right them cause im horrible at it. but now i keep slashing Scott with John or Logan but after that chapter where Bobby has that crush in the locker room i keep seeing Scott with John. weird i know but hey. but yes this new chap was as amazing as the rest. i hope bobby/john get there happy ending of sorts. poor them. anyhooter's good luck. and hope u update soon.

yea but i cant seem to stick to the Scott/John theme because it always turns into a Scott/John/Logan/Bobby and im not sure i can actually do that. not only because its a little freaky and creepy yet oddly hott if u want a drunken orgy smut fic i guess. but its to intricate and well fake. not unless i do that pairing in a they come together through tragedy thing. and with jean being with scott i'd need help. u know. but i am thinking about it. and i have no clue how the locker room scene inspired that pairing or the foursome one. maybe cause im a hardcore John/Bobby and Scott/Logan that it just happen's. but thanks.

*chuckles* yea but i have a better idea. and tell me what you think. at the end of X-3 john and scott was alive. and well scott was found and taken by what is ecentially the new weapon x people and john was later found and taken. i finally saw x-men origins Wolverine and i decided to use the deadpool thing. and they put john and scott with a whole other punch of mutants. only these mutants were able to react to other power (like dead was when they gave him other ones.) now this was because one scientist saved strikers work and began to well make the glitches better. so anyway what they did was take john,scott,mystique,mulipleman,magma,(and ronnie drake because the idea just came to me really),blink,and the five emma clones. i read about them in the comic and i like what i saw in there power's. the stepford-cuckoo's there called, scotts brother havok,sabertooth,avalanch,polaris,and maybe quicksilver and scarlet witch dont know yet.
and they expiremented on them. and now that is like the present tense of the fic. and it will go back and forth between the x-men and the newly forming brotherhood. as well certain government people making the sentinals and might span until i reach apocolypse, cause he was like bad, but i might not im still hashing idea's. anyway the plot is that eventually this team does get out and instead of going ot the mansion they start there own lives, new from scratch and eventually they do fight the sentinals when they activated but im still hashing it ou as i said. noy John and scotts relationship starts of kinda rocky at first. but i did put in there that John did kiss Scott once when living at the mansion. but that might not be put in there. they do get together though. ummm but i wanted to do a war torn kinda universe i mean when they escape thats what i want it to be like. himans and sentinals against mutants i have read those comics alot and am watching wolverine and the X-men. so yea that is how i think i'll be able to make this a Scott/John/Logan/Bobby pairing what do you think. still hashing idea's.

I really like the post-X3 idea and I think Scott/John would be a cool pairing. I wonder if it's ever been done before?

I also like the idea of a new team rising out of a group of prisoners. Cool.

If I have one word of advice, it would be PLAN A LOT! That's a big story you want to tell. Of course, if I had known how big mine was before I started, I would have thought twice. lol.
