Impersonator
Jul. 22nd, 2009 04:19 pmThe Mockingbird up on the railway tracks makes me insanely happy.
We never had these birds before! Their ranage has changed. I have listened happily to its ever-varying song over the last few months, but I've only recently identified some of its eerily accurate impersonations: a chickadee, a cardinal, a police siren.

Date: 2009-07-23 05:01 am (UTC)I'm wondering if the range-change has to do with the rebound of many bird species as DDT and other toxicant levels in our environment have plummeted, or if West Nile virus knocked down one or more competing species. I hope we see more jays soon.
