Who Knows D.C.?

In the current chapter of my book, we meet a Congressional aid who is currently working in Washington D.C., though his family is back home in Idaho. I imagine him in rental accomodation, preferably in a low-rise building in a nice enough area.

Where in Washington or environs might this be?

Extra info: he is partial to bringing young men back to his place and doesn't want to be caught, so that might affect his decision on where to rent.
