Title: Days of Becoming, Chapter 28 - “Cracks in the Dam (X2), Pt. 1”
Author: Talktooloose
'Verse: X-Men movieverse
Warnings: Obscene and scatological language, powers on the bus, high level hacking, displaced rage.
Betas:
kuriadalmatia,
mofic and
lux_apollo. Insightful and enthusiastic as always. Read their fic.
Disclaimers: Marvel and 20th Century own the X-Men, I own my original characters, and we have joint custody of the children.
Series Summary: This novel focuses mainly on the paths Iceman and Pyro take on their way to adulthood and how they discover and deal with their love for each other. It is a novel about what Joni Mitchell calls ”the dream's malfunction” and how we can learn to make our own dreams when our heroes fail us. Other X characters (including ones from comicverse and elsewhere) and OC's play prominent roles and the action begins before X1, continues through the events of X2 and X3 and concludes in the aftermath of that movie.
Previously in Days of Becoming: Jubilee has gathered the oldest of the X-students and begun training with them for the day they will become X-Men. Alone of the older students, Kitty refuses to join the training; however, she can't keep herself away either. John and Bobby are forced to train together and further forced to suffer each others' presence because of Rogue. There is something terrible growing in Jean Grey; or is she just learning to let loose something that was already there? Scott is worried about her, but at least the Wolverine isn't there, vying for her affections.
I LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU. Please use the comments link at the end of the chapter to bring you back here or drop me email to talktooloose CAT toothdemon FRAUGHT net. That oughta fool the spambots for now.

Date: 2009-01-03 09:35 pm (UTC)In fact, it wouldn't be completely far-fetched to say that the discovery of "JEAN GOD SOUND" led me to ramp up that plot thread further.
One day I will write a 1000 page, galaxy-spanning novel that all leads to a single bad pun.

Date: 2009-01-01 04:58 pm (UTC)This is good. Spectacular even. Engrossing enough that I missed dinner. And don't care. And my crew chief just knocked on the door of my cabin and I ignored him. And don't care. Holy crap dude, you are teh win!
I LOVE what you're doing with Jean, enough that I couldn't even put it into words. That woman scares the shit out of me. Please tell me you'll let her actually be the Phoenix instead of the ZombiKween they ruined her as in the godawful movie?
Scott's interaction with St. John was a flawless note that read true. I felt like someone should have been there telling Scooter he's not allowed to have this conversation right now. Logan makes things so entertaining around the house...
I'm developing a crush on your Kitty, I think. How scary is that? And your Rogue is so brilliant and believable that she may have become my personal canon. I love that she's not some generic "cold bitch out to fuck things up for the boys" and is instead trying her damndest to keep them civil with each other. I can't wait to see how her perspective changes once she gets a little of John in her.
I could splatter all kinds of enthusiam all over this for days, probably.
Man. This was so much win. You are glorious.

Date: 2009-01-03 09:40 pm (UTC)I am trying to make sense of the X3 Jean by getting into the Phoenix and understanding its relationship with the outer Jean character. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks for your words on the Scott-John relationship. I wrote and rewrote to try to make sense of itself for myself.
I love Kitty, what can I say? And I love Rogue more than I ever thought I would.
Thanks for reading.

Date: 2009-01-03 09:42 pm (UTC)I am writing the attack on the school now and I have had to decide that the "documentary footage" we saw in X2 was cut out of order for effect.
As we know, much more goes on than the movies can show!
Thanks for reading.

Date: 2009-01-07 02:07 am (UTC)You're an amazing writer.
Re: Pleeasseee
Date: 2009-01-07 03:09 pm (UTC)1. We are in X2 time at the moment and the boys definitely not together in X3, so there is still time apart. Time to think about what was lost?
2. Days of Becoming extends beyond X3, so something's going to happen...
3. It's a Bobby/John novel, so if the relationship didn't go anywhere after their breakup in Ch. 25, why would I be writing it? Will it go somewhere good? bad? I'M NOT SAYING!!!
Also, thanks for reading and saying nice things about my writing!
