ZOMG, this is depressing and hilarious.

So, if I understand correctly, [livejournal.com profile] jameth and [livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy are the frontrunners.

Jameth is being attacked because he was once on a joke LJ comm that made rape claims. Legomymalfoy is being dinged for a Harry Potter fic she wrote where Snape rapes an underaged Harry.

All in all, a shining moment in the fight for democracy.

This all just makes me sigh.

Were you expecting any better?

Whether it is being sanctioned from playing Stonewall in the Park (now rebranded as East Side Pride) for previously offending Pride sponsors by uttering the words "Fuck VANOC" (as is what is happening to me these days) or being pubically slagged on LJ for freedom of artistic expressions of child rape...

...one has to consider that the legacy of the first decade of this millenium is the pervasive message that one better not do controversial art, especially if there is a corporate entity sponsoring the medium where it is expressed in.

Btw it seems okay that the averagely written Kite Runner can have 10 year old Afghan boys getting it up the torn and bleeding butt by a "higher caste" yet still Afghani teen, but don't pick on the whitey USA or Brit kiddies for your own fanfic material- fucking Pashtuns and Iraqi's is still safe. They're still part of the country called "enemy territory". But Harry Potter pagan boyz are freakin' sacred.

God Bless the purity of both the Queen and America. Or else.

...Was this in response to what I said, or [livejournal.com profile] talktooloose's post in general? Maybe it's because I'm exhausted, but I'm missing out on what the purpose/intent was in responding to my vague statement of dissatisfaction and cynicism about the democratic process like that. For what it's worth, I agree that it is a crime against humanity to silence art.

I kind of feel stupid right now.
