I found out about the LJ election thing by accident.

I notice that NO ONE on my flist has even mentioned it. Is that because you don't know, don't care, consider the position a sham or have no patience for what is degenerating into fandom wank vs. Jameth?

I've been liminally aware of it but I kind of figured anybody from fandom or the bears would probably be okay, so I haven't paid much attention.

Whispers are reaching me that I'm wrong about that, but they are coming from both "sides."

Exactly.

I didn't know about it until the last day or so, mainly because of the huge holiday weekend we just had here in the US. I just spent the last four days doing things that were more likely to result in sunburn than monitor burn. So, it makes me wonder how many other people are just now logging in and finding out about it.

Yes, the "when" of an election is always an important consideration.

Ummm...what election? What or who are we electing for what reason? <---By this I mean to indicate that I am in the group with no idea that this is happening (happened?).

Election of an LJer to the LJ Advisory Board (http://news.livejournal.com/108365.html).

I haven't mentioned it largely because a number of other people on my FList have already, with multiple links, and there's a lot of overlap between my lists and theirs (if not exactly). Also, yes, the Jameth-wank is getting on my nerves. I voted. For now, that's enough.

The whole process is a bizarre exercise in people almost willfully getting their backs up.

It also makes me paranoid.

About five people mentioned it on my flist close to the beginning, I just assumed it was common knowledge.

And do you have any opinions on the race? It's like a candidates debate in which there are 27,000 open mikes in the room.

My opinion is that the russians will do whatever the hell they want.

I was aware that one was happening, but I'd forgotten when and hadn't realized it was nowish until you just mentioned it.
