I need this question answered for the chapter I'm writing now:

So, if you have a big ol' Mohawk on your little punk noggin — the kind with spikes pointing up like sunbeams — just how vulnerable is it?

I mean, it's just held in place by strong gel, right? Do you have to guard it from being knocked down? Does it need constant care throughout the evening? Do you spend your time in the mosh pit going, "Watch the hair, fucker!"?

I do mine with Elmer's gelglue and an hairdryer. Once it's dry, a few taps won't hurt it, but you wouldn't want to rub it up against anything. Usually my coiffure loses its erection at some point during a night of dancing. Others are more likely to tell me to watch the hair than viceversa.

Thank you.

Did your Mohawk ancestors use Elmer's?

Elmer's is a well-known secret.

I have been told either to use elmers to keep the hawk standing up or to use spray starch and hairspray. I couldn't bring myself to put glue in my hair and had problems with the starch on my own, so I never tried either way out. However, I have asked people about their hawks in the past and been told it sometimes needs fixing during the night. I hope that helps a bit...

i used to do liberty spikes when i was in hs (im a girl btw) but i used to use elmers glue in it. i was a little punk for awhile there and would be too lazy to do it every day so i would shower like every other day (haha gross) but id sleep with my hair like that and they would bend or whatever but the next day theyd be pretty intact id just use a little water to put them back to perfection. and they were pretty long. its all about the glue and the blow drying combination that keeps them where you cant fuck them up.
