Weighting

Country Style Donuts is opening down the street. Their advertisment for new employees asks for people who are "Friendly, enthusiastic and happy" (emphasis mine).

First question is, what metrics are they using to rate the happiness of prospects?

Second, from my application letter: "I am, in general, bitchy and lethargic, but quite happy. How are you weighting these various factors in your final decision?"

Don't Get too X-Cited...

I mean, they've disappointed us before, but the initial line-up for "X-Men: First Class" is kind of WOW.

James McAvoy as Xavier? Rosamund Pike as Emma Frost? Michael Fassbender as Magneto?

Fuck Wow.

I haven't seen "Kick-Ass" yet, but I hear it was great, and that movie's director is set to direct First Class. Maybe they'll get it right?

Now, the extreme youth of both Xavier and Magneto here suggests that the story might spend significant time in the past, perhaps when they met and became friends. I mean, even if the story takes place 15 years before X1, that would still make Xavier and Magneto 50-something when the school opens.

I would love to see it begin in the 60s or earlier. Very cool.

I know they'll probably fuck it up, but maybe they won't? Please?

I Feel the Earth! Move! Under My Feet!

Okay, that was awesome. We just had the biggest earthquake I've ever felt in Toronto. Which meant minor swaying up here on the 9th floor. There was a brief move to evacuate the building, but only a few people went. Apparently it was felt in Ottawa, Waterloo, Montreal, Kingston. That's a lot of ground.

LOL, you can't get on any Toronto news sites suddenly. Having felt the actual world shake, we're all running to the Internet for confirmation.
