Fall, I say.
Sep. 4th, 2005 08:15 pmHello, this is fatigue talking.
Day three was as exhausting as it was exciting. All the walls are out and cleaned away. The floors have been stripped of their old hardwood in all but one room. Tomorrow, we have to clean out a few more pockets of debris, remove several thousand nails that are still sticking out of studs and vacuum and sweep some more.
We estimate we have 4 metric tonnes of garbage bagged and stacked in our garage.
This is immensely satisfying work; I really feel involved with the bones of our house and it is fun to reveal them. I feel like we're giving a wonderful new lease on life to the 81 year old building and I am squeeling in delight at the thought of living in the new bedroom upstairs looking out back over the garden. *sigh*.
It is shocking to realize that our house has been standing for all these years with NO insulation. Last year, we had foam insulation blown into the attic and now we will be putting fibreglass into the walls.
Anyway, I'm currently delirious. I'm going to shower, watch an episode of the anime series 'X' with Snake while soaking my feet in warm water and chilling my knee with a bag of frozen corn and then fall into bed.
