Sending out My Love
May. 12th, 2004 10:32 amWhat's a more soothing version of a shout-out? A purr-out? A succor punch? Here's two of them:
1. To
redrunner whose mom has a malignant lump in her breast: Your life is visited all too often by illness. I offer you my strength and love and I know that you have lots of those qualities to share yourself. Between me and 'Mit (and probably others), you know folks who's mothers have survived breast cancer. It is a very treatable form of cancer. Let me know if I can help in any way.
2. To Queerscribe: You are one of my journal mentors and a great inspiration. You have faced down monsters and been a champion for the joyous integration of gay sexuality into your life with a level of mindfulness and truth that is astonishing. I hope my readers who don't know you will explore your writing.
Queerscribe lived through one of those horror stories that people trot out everytime they want to talk about the "dangerous gay lifestyle". On a second date with a young man who was just coming to terms with his own sexuality, Queerscribe was attacked by him and almost stabbed to death. He is taking a break from writing now as the trial approaches. It is ironic that one who has so bravely put his life out for people to read should be forced to do so even more publically if the defense attorney tries to win sympathy for his client by making Queerscribe look like some kind of deranged sexual beast.
QS, I believe you know who you are well enough to answer with honesty and conviction any distortions of your life thrown at you. I know you are a good person who cares for the hearts of those he touches. You've even shown understanding and sympathy for your attacker. You will get through this and you will continue to be an inspiration for all who take the time to know you.
