I won't even pretend that anyone will have any idea where my current LJ name (Long Crucial Thing) comes from. It doesn't even come up in Google.

It's from the song Cindy 'C' by Prince off his Black Album (1987), the unofficial dark side of Lovesexy. It's an album I'm intermittently fond of. It starts off with two kick-ass fun funk workouts—Le Grind and the aforementioned Cindy 'C'—and then goes odd places. The anti-rap song Dead On It is just stupid but the dark gangsta fantasy Bob George is interesting. He performed a long version of that song as the transition into the light on the LoveSexy tour which I have on tape and must rip to DVD.

I like "Long Crucial Thing" because it reminds me of making big-ass pieces of art like novels. (also because it's dirty) It reminds me that everything worth doing is a huge commitment. Or, as corduroyarmy once wrote about me, "You do things because they're hard." Bang! My judgement, sentence and epitath in one.

If you don't like the name, don't worry. I've already programmed my Palm to remind me to change to another obscure name next week! If I don't lose the whole PDA by then...

Alllllllllright. I'm going to try to do last edits on Chapter 6 of Days of Becoming this morning and then research what to make for Snake's birthday dinner tomorrow. I also have to phone Sympatico and say "WTF" about my bandwidth charges. I may have to go back to unlimited.
