Is it just me or does the name "Palm Pilot" sound like a synonym for a chronic masturbator?

Anyway, I bought my PDA. I ordered it through a company in Montreal which meant I didn't have to pay Ontario provincial sales tax which would have been about twice the shipping cost I paid. Furthermore, it was a sweet deal that included a free Palm folding keyboard and international adaptors for the recharge cord.

I think I'm in love. So far, I am mainly using it as an ebook reader. It's been a dream of mine to have an ebook since the concept was first floated. But the prohibitive cost and poor distribution of books made it a non-starter in the past. Now, through the wonders of piracy, I have lots of ebooks to put on my device. Not to mention fanfic and, soon, [livejournal.com profile] strumquill's novel.

I am going to take things a step at a time. I have successfully loaded pdfs onto the device (which is how I am currently reading the first Harry Potter book) and I have loaded a Word doc into Documents to Go. I will play with editing it later.

Next, I will set up the wifi stuff and my email client. Though frankly, I don't spend a lot of time in wifi-equipped cafes so it's a not a biggie. But I will be able to send and receive text messages when I'm in a hotzone.

After that, I will set up the keyboard and go somewhere to write.

After that I will get a decent little drawing program and turn the PDA into a mobile color sketchpad.

After that I will get a 1gb expansion card for Chanumas and then I will load mp3s onto it.

It's cute, cute, cute and I'm only slightly neurotically guilty for having bought it.
