So we were just told that our company used 109% of our allotted extended health coverage and so we're being hit immediately with a 30% increase in our insurance payments.

Heh?

The language of the glossy, illustrated benefits brochure indicates that you have so much coverage. As it turns out, if you use it, you'll be penalized.

On top of that, our company's accountant just figured out that the payroll company, ADP, forgot to adjust some rates in our deductions and the company will have to do a clawback. I will owe $80. This in addition to the $250 extra I'll be paying in insurance per year.

I took the opportunity to remind my boss that I was owed an increase in vacation pay when I hit six years with the company. Because I'm paid hourly (as I'm part-time and work differing hours), my vacation money comes in the form of vacation pay on each payback. They owe me retroactively, it seems, so I asked her if they could figure that out before they start demanding past insurance money.

Sheesh!

Of course, this is partly my pointless guilt as usual. It was noted that only seven of the 31 employees in the company account for most of the overrun. I'm clearly one of them because I used up my physiotherapy money and some accupuncture money with my knee surgery and nerve pinch, not to mention all my massage money.

Of course, everything is interconnected. If I hadn't had to wait six months for knee surgery in the public health care system, I wouldn't have had to go through physio twice.

Enough! On to happier things! How's your 9/11 memorial going?
