I always feel I can handle everything as long as my home is running smoothly. But when the house is upside down from renovations... YIKES!

Before work this morning I suddenly had to empty the living room of furniture, find drop cloths for that pile of furniture, phone three financial institutions to find out how I could write a cheque that the contractor was suddenly asking for and control an insane dog whose home was being invaded by a parade of strangers with loud powertools and dark plans for the walls he has sworn to protect.

The good news is that the renos are going insanely fast. But that means we are racing around like maniacs picking tiles, hardwood paints and fixtures to meet the accelerated schedule. Plus work. Plus twice a week physiotherapy. Plus drawing a page a week. And I'm still in an energy deficit from four full days of construction work last weekend.

But (again) yesterday the contractor framed all the walls and we can actually walk around in the reconfigured space and feel what the bedroom and the closets and the bathroom will be like. For homebodies like us who plan to stay in this little box until we're little old men, this is deeply rewarding.

I hope you are keeping a photo record of all the work.
