We just returned from Rol San in Chinatown whose à la carte is ordinary but whose dim sum is excellent. We had:
  • beef tripe in ginger and scallion
  • fried stuffed eggplant
  • sticky rice in bamboo leaf
  • mango seafood crispy rolls
  • chicken feet in black bean sauce
  • deep fried squid
  • cuttle fish in satay sauce
  • stuffed bean curd skin
  • turnip cakes

And here is a link to the cheesecake recipe we used. We haven't eaten it yet. It burned a bit while we weren't looking. Smells good.

The recipe is from the excellent Brilliant Food Tips and Cooking Tricks by David Joachim which we consult as often as the Joy of Cooking.

Uhhh, don't remember. Probably? Big ass place with a large front room and larger backroom where we always sit. Dim sum on a pre-printed fill-in card as opposed to on circulating carts. You, me, Z and E or what?

No, I can't imagine there having been a time when those four were happy to be in the same room. I think it was en compagnie de Z la derniere foix que nous t'avons rendu visite.
So nice to hang last weekend. My only regret that our slumberparty was so abbreviated & unconcious. I'm contemplating a visit appr. Labour Day. Y-seras-tu?
