Series Summary: This novel focuses mainly on the paths Iceman and Pyro take on their way to adulthood and how they discover and deal with their love for each other. It is a novel about what Joni Mitchell calls ”the dream's malfunction” and how we can learn to make our own dreams when our heroes fail us. Other X characters (including ones from comicverse and elsewhere) and OC's play prominent roles and the action begins before X1, continues through the events of X2 and X3 and concludes in the aftermath of that movie.
Previously in Days of Becoming: On the day of an attempted presidential assassination by a mutant infiltrator, the School for Gifted Youngsters has been attacked. Some students have been captured, as have Professor Xavier and Cyclops. John, Bobby and Rogue have run away with Wolverine, heading for Bobby's hometown of Boston. At the mansion, Kitty and Peter have confronted the soldiers again while trying to gather supplies for the remaining students who are hiding in the woods. When all is lost, Hank McCoy appears to save them. But for how long? What tense is this supposed to be in, anyway?

Date: 2009-03-02 03:10 pm (UTC)I think I'll enjoy writing Mystique, though I don't think she'll play a very important role in the story. I already know that she doesn't trust John and is a bit jealous of Magneto's interest in him...
We'll see what happens. I never really know a character until I start writing them more.

Date: 2009-03-02 03:13 pm (UTC)It's not weird at all! I fully intend my novel to be a legitimate and subversive read on the canon. I'm going to great pains to make it all fit. The only thing that doesn't fit is my Kitty. In the movies, she has no real personality until X3 and she is inconsistently portrayed before that. Therefore, I created the Kitty I wanted who is not exactly a Kitty I've ever read either. I think she's closest to the original Claremont/Byrne conception of the character. I guess I'm just extrapolating her up a few years and giving her an anstier backstory.
Anyway, I'll continue to feed your addiction for a few more months yet.
