The Holidays
Jan. 7th, 2008 02:03 pmThe holidays began tensely and ended tensely but in between, they were most pleasant. Notes from the holidays:
Things that weren't so good:
- Got adequate sleep
- Made good food including lamb casseroles and cheesecake
- Wrote fiction
- Read books and comic books, including The Elvis Costello biography, Complicated Shadows and volumes of Jack Kirby's Third World and Mike Allred's Madman. Also, New X-Men: Childhood's End Vol. 1-3
- Saw lots of movies, notably The Dead Girl (highly recommended), Sense and Sensibility, Hellboy, Spider-Man 3, Sweeney Todd, The Golden Compass. Unfortunately, we found M. Night Shyamalamadingdong's The Village in the library and foolishly watched it. I will go on and on about how bad it is upon request.
- Edited video with my youngest nephew while his older brother was upstairs making blintzes with Snake
- Got together with family several times and was not angst-ridden about it.
- Redid two rooms with new vinyl flooring
- Bought sensible and ridiculous shoes, new blankets and a new mirror
- Downloaded the Champ's original version of "Tequila"
Things that weren't so good:
- I didn't see or speak to friends hardly at all. I was a fucking hermit.
- Snake's cholestrol numbers came back high and he's worried, though information online seems highly contradictory
- I didn't finish Chapter 18 of DOB. It was a bugger to get the first half right but I think I've managed it
- Our cat seems to have decided to die. He won't eat but the vet can't find anything wrong with him.
- The snow was awesome, this thaw sucks
