Two thoughts which came to me over breakfast which I will bookmark for future consideration. Feel free to chime in on either:

  1. It seems to me that the myth of God is best understood as an allegory for the way human consciousness illuminates nature and makes it self-aware at last.
  2. The music business is among the most corrupt and inhuman precisely because music is the indescribable quintessance of human expression.

Care to expand on #1 a bit?

I've heard of God's character development through the OT and NT as an allegory for the development of human social development. I'm sorry, maybe I'm being dense, but I'm not sure what you mean - nature is self-aware?

1) I just had this thought about Jeebus. That he is the metaphor for those of us called on to redeem our parents' lives for them.

2) Music? something to listen to while looking at real art, right?

If you think of nature as a totality and anthropomorphise it, the addition of humanity gives nature self-awareness and abstract appreciation. We alone find beauty in the singing of the sparrow and weep at sunsets. We alone map the connections.

I should clarify that when I say "the myth of god", I mean my myth of god with only passing regard for either edition of the bible.

Hello, welcome to my journal. You're a friend of [livejournal.com profile] rfmcdpei's, I see.

1) Oy, that hits home. With a nail to the palm!

2) Yes, easy-listening jazz at art openings, for instance.
