The Power of Comics

Or, "Stand back! I have a .07 Pigment Marker and I'm not afraid to use it!"

I am getting frustrated on the confusion of issues around the Unholy Cartoons. On the one hand, there is the probably true accusation that the comics do nothing but add fuel to the fire of racial tensions in Europe. That's an important issue and, after the riots in France, it's shocking that Europeans still want to circle the wagons against the "evil invaders". Get a clue, folks.

BUT. If you listen to the words of protestors and Muslim clerics who are egging them on, ANY depiction of the prophet from the respectful to the neutrally historical would be equal cause for the execution of the artist and all other understandable actions of the protestors like burning embassies.

It's awesome that people seem to want an end to racism but do not get confused about what the mobs are saying. And I love the protestors who want to create an object lesson by calling for anti-semitic cartoons to be produced in retaliation. Yeah, that'll show all those Jews who really run Europe and the international media who they're dealing with. Hint, those images have been running in the Middle East for years now.

Days of Becoming. Chapter 1: “I Just Wanna Be Warm”

Fandom: X-Movieverse, starts pre-X1, finishes post-X2. Whether it can be reconciled with X3 remains to be seen. I kind of doubt it.
Pairing: multiple. Bobby/John at its heart. Also includes the whole movieverse cast plus OCs and Lance Alvers (Avalanche) from X-Men Evolution.
Rating: Jazzy with a hint of cinnamon. Lots of swearing, explicit sex later in the arc. Take whatever precautions you feel are necessary.
Summary: A sudden increase in the manifestations of young mutants causes panic across America. Two young mutants, Bobby Drake and St. John Allerdyce follow very different paths to a new home and a new identity. But what is home? What is family? Is love enough to heal the wounds of betrayal?
