Everywhere in Canada, the iMac 20" is sold for $1,999.99 CD. This is Apple's price and all the stores follow it. There is, apparently, almost no profit on the boxes anymore and, therefore, no room to undercut this price.
There are four smallish stores (i.e., not chains) that I might buy the computer from but suddenly, Futureshop is selling it for $1899.99 until January 5.
Dilemma: I usually like to support independent stores but if they are not really profitting from the iMac sale anyway, does it make a difference? Futureshop will give NO support if anything goes wrong, but if it's something serious, the small stores will just send me to Apple anyway.
Given that I want to support the small stores, how important is my purchasing this computer from them. I will, for instance, buy my extra RAM and other peripherals elsewhere in a few months.
Any thoughts to add to this internal debate, Flist?
