Curious Incidents
Apr. 25th, 2005 03:06 pmI will try to find time for a full New York report tomorrow. It was a great trip.
While I was away, I read a very clever and effective book called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night. The first person narrator is an autistic 15-year-old math whiz and it is remarkable to see the world through his eyes and to be given the chance understand the logic of his world.
We the readers are put into the peculiar position of understanding actions and emotions of other characters (as seen through the main character's eyes) without his being able to interpret them as we can. Of course, he puts all his difficult math questions in the book and I can't interpret those.
A fast, powerful and thoughtful read.
