Sep. 22nd, 2004 04:13 pmI'm having fits here. The editor is fucking me as I knew she would. First she told me that we were going to press last Wednesday, so I went into final-final mode which is precise and time-consuming. Then she sent my sister a mysterious letter about "showing the book around the company".
Sure enough, she e-mailed me today:
"The latest version has gone through another pass of editing and review. This review has focussed especially on concerns such as age appropriate language and art, internal consistency, ease of use, and adherence to BH editorial policies, as well as how the design, artwork, and written material work together as a whole."
Is this woman a moron? Well, obviously. You don't tell me that I'm in pre-flight and then tell me you're going to give me feedback on drawings and layout and tell my sister that there are more writing changes. I feel like billing her for every hour spent finalizing a page or a drawing that she is now asking for changes on. Totally irresponsible and unprofessional. In the meantime, I'm sure she having fits herself as I just sent her a new version of the cover she rejected out of hand and asked her to show that one around. heh.
Meanwhile, my sister just offerred me a bunch of cash to do tracks for her high school musical this winter. I should say no, but I really need the money. This year we bought a couch, a new roof, a dog, we insulated the attic, had the furnace and air vents cleaned (that's tomorrow), put in a new window and door and paid legal and penalty fees to renegotiate the mortgage, in addition to paying down a lump-sum on the principal.
