Art. Work.

Okay! I've just fought my way through to the end of Chapter 4 of Days of Becoming!

I'm really understanding for the first time in my life just how much work art is. In the past, my projects have tended to be smaller (with a few exceptions) and I've rushed through them on waves of adreneline. But I'm now doing two huge extended projects and having to fit them into the rest of my life. They are jobs. You must sit down and begin and make your way to the end. And then do the same over and over.

This is not a complaint; but it is a realization.

I will print the chapter (sorry trees) and take it to the park to proofread. Then it is off for beta reads!

It's really, really good, I think.

The proofing was nice as can be. Me and the dog sat under a tree in the park. Then my boyfriend biked by on the way from work and came to join us.

What, I ask you, could be bad about that?

I got back one beta already and expect the other tomorrow or Thursday. Depending on the depth of criticism, I may be able to post by the weekend. If it needs another round, then next week.

Also, didn't comment on your latest, but I'm continuing to enjoy. BETA NOTE: The room was "alive with life?" Um, try again.

Ick! Thanks for noticing that. Completely slipped by... I'll fix it later when I get home from work.

You don't know X-Men at all? Wow. And all of your friends are geeks!!

You don't need to know much to get my fic. Some people are mutants. Manifesting your powers for the first time can be traumatic.

It will be sexy, but only where appropriate and not yet.

Heh, and if you were really in the know, you'd say "x-ignorant..."

When is sexy not appropriate?

Haha, internal censorship.

What I realize I meant was "this novel doesn't belong to the sub-category of slash whose main purpose is to bring to light or create a gay subtext to the tension between the antagonists in the story."

Another way of saying it is I'm not constructing the story as porn. Doing so would be perfectly legitimate, but it is not the story I'm telling. Though I do plan to be overtly sexual in the near future.
