talktoolooseToday's Theme is sharp things.
Sharp #1: my physiotherapist gave me ACCUPUNCTURE on my elbow this morning which was cool and almost sensation-free. He comes at it from a Western school of thought about stimulation damanged tissue to encourage healing as well as the psychological effects of "making you aware" of the area.
What was very interesting was his explanation of why the Chinese developed the system of energy flow and merideans and the like to explain the effacacy of the treatment. There was a tabboo in China about cutting corpses and, therefore, they were never able to study anatomy in the way of Western culture. Instead, theories about energy flow and diagnosis by pulse had to hold sway. Interesting.
He put three needles in my elbow but couldn't put one in my hand because that's where I burned it the other day. The point in the hand is on the same nerve line as (all? one?) of the elbow pins and I could actually feel a pricking feeling there despite the lack of probe.
Sharp #2 was at the old school barbershop (Gus's on Bloor Street) where I had my hair cut. They lathered me up at the edge of my sideburns, over the tops of my ears and on the back of my neck and shaved those areas with a straight razor. That was also a first for me.
I need to round out the day with some bondage and knife play. Anyone?
