I Must Admit...
Feb. 21st, 2006 12:24 pmIt's getting better.
Last week was one of the toughest in living memory, folks. It was kind of blow after blow after blow.
1. As my knee recovers, my right arm has developed both tennis and golfer's elbow. I feel so sportif! I have clearly been going at it on the computer with too much intensity for too long. I was devastated by this development, especially in light of the troubles
redknot has been having. A week later, things aren't so scary. My physiotherapist has been working with me and I'm now trying out a trackball mouse and wearing a BandIt while at the computer. Drawing doesn't seem to bug it much. Typing is the worst. I have to learn to back off, take breaks and stretch it out. Also, lighter grip jerking off... *blushes*
2. A week of squabbling and fighting with my spouse. Things are better now.
3. I got a piece of crap performance review at work. Many of things they said were true. I know my focus was off for much 2005. But they kind of negelected to mention or notice that I took on leadership on two huge projects that were of great benefit to the company and which I succeeded in completely. My tendency is to take any negative comments made about me and completely internalize them and equate them with my self-worth. I'm proud that I was able to articulate my frustration in the meeting with my supervisor and she now wants me to write up what I had to say and share it with the VP of Operations. In any case, I've just received by salary bonus which was many hundred dollars lower as a result of the poor review. FUCK YOU, MUTHERFUCKERS! DIE, DIE, DIE.
So, anyway, this week is better. I've finished the first draft of chapter 2 of my fic and every time I'm feeling down, I get another enthusiastic comment about chapter 1. That feels good. I think I'm going to start writing a (non-fanfic) novel within a year.
Also, Snake and I are 90% sure we're about book tickets to Turkey for the first two weeks of May and that is just THRILLING.
Also, if the price doesn't go much higher, I will bid on an iMac G5 on eBay in two hours.
That is all.
