K7 and K9

We saw the wonderful French film Queen Margot for the second time this weekend. All sex and violence and intrigue as the Protestants and Catholics duke it out in the Louvre in 1571. The sexy boys and girls fucking in the court is contrasted with a shocking body count and images of Protestant corpses being dumped in mass graves that reminds one of Holocaust footage.

One of the credits read "bande originale disponible par compact disc et K7" which we suddenly realized was an orthographic pun on "cassette". Is K7 really used in the French speaking world? [livejournal.com profile] tchatchke? [livejournal.com profile] briseur?

Also, as we were watching Blue Velvet last night (haven't seen it in over a decade. wow.), the dog ignored on-screen barking but went APESHIT when the doorbell rang in the movie. Snake thought this was so hilarious that he made me rewind and play it again.

That movie has fantastic music! I heard them play half the soundtrack on CIUT one afternoon. But I've never seen it, it sounds excellent.

Yes, excellent. There is a gorgeous Ofra Haza song over the closing credits which took me by surprise. There we were coming out of 16th Century France going, "Is that... Hebrew?"

Damn! The library only has the CD as reference audio at the Central Ref. Library.

The DVD is available for rental at Bay Street Video.

Only just occured to me that you look rather like Vincent Perez who plays La Môle.

They do use K7 for cassette though less and less, for obvious reasons. I saw some of the storyboards of Queen Margot at the film library in Paris about six months ago. It rocked. You could tell, though, that the cast had been hired even before the storyboardist. Danny Auteuil and Vincent Perez really looks like themselves but in comic book form. It was cool. My favorite segment of storyboard was the wedding.

Chester sometimes does that. He'll stay asleep if someone actually knocks on the door, but if someone does it on a door on TV, he barks and growls and runs all around the house doing a perimeter check. Silly Corgis.

hee hee.

And last night, we were editing video footage from our trip to Algonquin Park (because what's an excursion into nature if you can't do something digital with it later, he says ironically. Ironically that is). Gougou growled at the sound of his own barking on the video and came to us every time our video dopplegangers called to his. Very confusing for bright little dogs.

[livejournal.com profile] agent_88 has a french Beck poster in his bedroom that offers "Mutations" on K7... I thought it was real clever when he pointed that out :)
