That's pretty cool. When I lived in Montreal I used to listen to the radio just for the weather forecast. Specifically for the point when they'd finished with the weather in Montreal and they'd tell us the forecast for "Abitibi/Chibougamou, Pontiac/Timiskaming, and the Western Eastern Townships."

The band Barenaked Ladies has a song "Peterborough and the Kawarthas" based on one regional weather report CBC Toronto always gives.

I love that song! It's such a slice of parenting life, listening for the weather report where your kid is.
