No, actually, the kitchen is not any bigger. Kitchens should be big enough to contain what is needed in a logical, easily accessible way and then minimize the movement needed to get from one appliance or area to another.
The table is actually going to be smaller, but there is no longer a big wall between the kitchen and the diningroom. That means more eating at the dining room table, and the ability to talk to people who are sitting there while work is happening in the kitchen.
