talktoolooseHi, Flist. I´m in Lisbon and it´s an astoundingly beautiful city. After this summer´s record-breaking rain in Toronto, 13 days of sun and moderate temperatures (mid 20s) is most welcome.
I´m a physical wreck today which isn´t so surprising as we climbed mountain after mountain in Sintra yesterday, so I´m moving reaaaaaall slow and catching up on email.
Snake is in one of his obsessional fantasy modes and insisting we should move here. The fact is, of the many places in Europe we´ve visited and fantasized about, this city is a place it would be really wonderful to settle down. Not only is the climate lovely and the city lovely, but everything seems to be working here and the people are friendly and reasonable. Personality-wise, Portugese are closer to Northern Europeans than their Southern Latin brethren. On the other hand, the have the Mediterranean love of life. As the Lonely Planet guide says, they drink constantly but not to excess!
Note: Lisbon, with a population of half a million, has more subway lines than Toronto.
As usual, our pictures number in the thousands. We will make a Flickr show of the best.
