And Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" was a weirdly inappropriate choice for the moment when the games were officially declared open.

I don't think so. Everything was planned in advance. They did do a minute of silence for him which was actually quite moving, given the size of the spectacle and the crowd watching.

kd was awesome, but maybe Constant Craving would be a better Olympic theme?
