Bookity Boffin
Jun. 23rd, 2008 03:10 pmGreat interview with Thomas Dolby on Q. In addition to telling how his company's polyphonic audio engine is in most of the world's cell phones, he also tells this great story:
Dolby's son wants to be a rock drummer and listens to a lot of Ozzie and other music his dad can't stand. One day, Dolby is walking past his son's room and says, "Hey, that's Def Leppard, right? Pyromania."
His son squints testily at his old fart father and says, "How do you know?! You hate this kind of music."
"I played keyboards on that song."
"No you didn't!" his son declares with an afficianado's arrogant assurance. "Bookity Boffin played keyboards on Pyromania!"
"And who do you think 'Bookity Boffin' is?"
"No!!!!!"
