We were watching last week's Survivor last night and it was the first time I was ever tempted to write fic about the show...

I mean, that scene on the big fag-coloured designer spa bed in the skimpy bathrobes? Full of slash possibilities.

Uh-oh... Yau-Man, your days of being the cute, harmless character are over. You are clearly the best player in the game and people have you in their sites.

Alex is also in the best position possible! The alliance of six will break in half and he will be the swing vote.

Did someone tip him off about the split vote? His decision to vote Mookie would indicate as much.

That show is still on TV?!

...I really do live under a rock, don't I?

It is one my strongest addictions. It is a maddeningly brilliant show and I have been watching since Season 4 (this is 12).

I'm the one who lives under the rock, btw. I couldn't name you any new shows. I just don't watch TV.

Also (re: the beta), very little drug experience, so I'll have to do some research.

You can totally tell I took a biopsychology course with a large psychopharmacology and drug addiction unit this semester. :-P

I've been thinking about Bobby's "jump cuts" grass reaction. I think it's just a variation of the way time gets fucked up when you're high on grass. I once made an omlette for Snake while he was high and about 30 seconds into the process he went, "What is TAKING so long?!!"

Sure. That works.

I think that may say more about the mad hungarian than it says about weed.

He once also forgot how to breathe and was sure he was going to die. This was getting stoned after 14 straight hours of playing Civilization, though. It's the drug interactions that kill you!

Oh. And I did watch that show too, though it was because it was what my roommates were watching initially. From... whatever one that Shii-an was on (Thailand maybe?) until the one that Rupert was on (Pearl Islands?). *shrugs*

Got bored after that. Especially with some of the meh things in terms of casting and personalities. Maybe it's changed.

Or maybe it's just not your cup of tea now. Other than "all-stars" and one other season, I've never been disappointed by the show even when I've been disappointed by the results. The constant interplay of strategy, luck and personality is always fascinating and it's the only show where we end up screaming at the television in triumph or frustration.

The season before this one (the "racial experiment" season) was amazing and it seems to have had carry-over into this season in which race seems much less of an issue and more a fact of American life. The game is equally controlled by whites, blacks, Asians and Hispanics at this point, whereas in past seasons, people of colour were often peripheral and didn't make it to the end game.

Hmm... You know, I shouldn't really have assumed I got bored. I think it actually had more to do with the fact that I moved and my current roommates watch far less TV than my old roommates - we do other things during our social-ish hours. AllStars was when I stopped watching, I think that's a pretty understandable departure point.

All-Stars was dreadful and, from a play point of view, boring once Amber and Rob locked things down. I love Richard Hatch and was glad to see him in action, especially pissing off that bitch Sue.

I hate survivor when it has too many product placements and All-Stars was all that more.

Yeah the Hatch pissing off Sue was great. The corporate whorage not so much.

***WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 11***

Really minor, so don't panic, Mikey. Bobby is stoned on grass. My limited experience with the substance has included strange perceptions on the passage of time and noticing/unnoticing details around me in odd ways. Here's what I wrote from Bobby's POV. Does it seem plausible?

"Things seemed to be happening too fast for Bobby’s brain to keep up with. He saw her standing, then on her knees grabbing her sweater and shirt, then pushing L____ back onto the bed as he tried to rise. Like jump cuts, like a sequence of still photos. Then he saw her running across the room, holding the discarded clothing in front of her breasts and phasing out through the door. There was a ringing in his ears."

[livejournal.com profile] lux_apollo also took exception to me calling someone's behaviour "crack-withdrawled" because you don't develop a physical addiction to crack. Still, all I'm doing is saying she's really testy which I imagine is likely anytime you go off a substance that makes you feel good.

I've never experienced it as the world speeding up so much as becomnig something of a moving target. And, "the world," here is an euphemism for, "my perception." It's not that I can't process the info, it just takes more concentration for me to remain focused long enough to do so. Does this make sense?
