I'll Follow My Secret Heart
Jun. 7th, 2005 10:22 amI'm going to move to Ikaluit, I swear it. I cannot take 30 degrees, no how, no way.
Probably due to the stresses I have been heaping upon myself lately, I've had more than my usual number of heart irregularities; but the heat is definitely exacerbating the problems. My heart has been in arhythmia for the last 14 hours or so and it's very aggravating as it works way less efficiently. This means dizziness if I stand too fast, breathlessness if I climb stairs. All in all, it sucks.
Having a useless memory lately, I forget if my cardiologist said to go to hospital after 24 or 48 hours of arhythmia. Well, if it hasn't improved by, say, 2p.m., I'll call him for a reminder. Nonetheless, I'm here at work and heigh-di-ho, the wheels of the economy must keep on spinning.
Also, I am having brutal and dark fantasies about fights with conservative opportunists (some of them Liberal) in the latest attacks on the government's proposed same-sex marriage legislation. Now there's a back bench revolt within the minority government that could topple it. In fact, one Liberal mp has left the government to sit as an independent all in effort to save the TRADITIONAL DEFINITION MARRIAGE (don't get me started). I guess minority leverage cuts two ways.
This also does my heart no damned good.

Date: 2005-06-07 06:55 pm (UTC)In the healthy body department: I slipped on a large wet rock in the woods on Saturday and (according to the doctor whom I visited to-day) severed the tendon in my right middle finger -- so that, although there is no pain, I cannot move the farthest out bit of finger. The medical term is "mallet finger." So my finger is now in a splint that is supposed to keep the last joint from bending. The doctor says that if I do not bend it for, maybe, 6 weeks, the tendon may re-connect all by itself. Otherwise, surgery will be required.
In the meantime, I am supposed to go canoeing with Aaron the first week of July. I wonder if I can paddle without the use of that joint. Maybe we should go hiking instead (although I booked the campsite just yesterday). Maybe he can do all the work and I do an odalisque impression in the bow.
