untoward is serializing a novel on the 'Net and asking for donations so he can make his tuition. Ironically, I am currently watching Simon Callow's one-man show about Charles Dickens who serialized his equally viscious and hilarious tales more than a century ago. Anyway, Joey is well worth supporting in his efforts as he is destined either to be a feted literary lion or else the next in a long line of great jailhouse authors and dangers to himself and society.

Speaking of writing from the heart, Snake got a letter from a student on Valentine's day. He teaches ESL to adult newcomers at a community college and a young Chinese woman has been acting shy and occassionally surly around him of late. At the end of the schoolday, she handed him the following letter:

You are Orchid in me heart, I want become earth for accompany you; you are blue sky, I want become white cloud for forever snuggle up to you. Regardless is violent storm and world apart mine heart is forever. I wish god give me happiness.

I thank you very much Because you bring happy and comfort to me; I thank you very much Because you treat me very good in level two; I thank you very much Because I learn simple English conversation in level two; I thank you very much...... Meanwhile I am sorry, I give you bad mood and bad matter, please you excuse me Because I want crazy for you.

I find this very touching. Snake wrote her a brief response yesterday, telling her that he was taken but that he felt very complimented by her letter and she should not be embarrassed.
