Moronic review quote on the print ad for "Wind that Shakes the Barley":
"Cillian Murphy gives a simmering performance!"
What the fuck does that mean? Does he bring the performance to a boil early on and then turn down the heat? Does it make the flavour richer and prevent scorching on the bottom of the pot?
I can imagine it worked in the context of a larger review, but pulled out on its own and positioned like a self-explanatory declaration of excellence, it makes no sense.
